OK- someone has to break-in the What’s Up Category…

So, a big “what’s up in my life” is that today I signed an offer letter for a new position at work. Starting 1Jul, I’ll be theย  Associate Director of Development at our observatory.ย  It’s a pretty good position that gets me more strategically involved in both the division I’m working in now, and as a directorate member, in the observatory as a whole, so I’m really looking forward to it. On the other hand, none of the last 4 people in this position (all of whom I’ve worked with in my 7 years here) are still working for us.ย  That makes me the 5th person in this position in 7 years, so I figure that means by the end of 2015 or so, I’ll be on to something else.ย  Any suggestions? ๐Ÿ˜‰

On a serious note, I really credit this program and all of you for helping me get this position and feel comfortable with both negotiating for it and filling it.ย  You’ve all taught me a lot and learning from your and your experiences has really helped me refine my own thoughts and approaches to management and leadership at work. So, I am quite sincere in saying you all share some of the credit in me getting this position -although when I mess it up in a year and a half, that’ll be all on me! ๐Ÿ™‚

What’s up with everyone else?

  1. Great news Scot! Congrats and way to go, you certainly taught me a lot during the program, with your insightful questions and explanations.

  2. Congrats Scot! I hope you move on to better things a year and a half from now (in a good way). Throughout class I would listen to your question’s as they were insightful very often, which usually got an insightful question back as well. ๐Ÿ™‚

Currently at the bank, I ranked third in a recent campaign for home equity loans for approved applications. Working on getting my notary paperwork done. Also, reading an exam so I can start out doing small retirement plans up to $25,000.00. Just recently assisted with rolling over $150,000.00 to the bank. In the far future I do want to set up my on advisory firm but will need experience first through work.

Also, reading how to buy real estate without cash or credit. That is the title of the book, and there are some insightful scripts word for word which is pretty cool. Lastly, reading two books on foreign exchange in hopes to understand what platforms to use and how to understand opportunities. in time, in time! ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Congratulations Curly! Your best advice is probably from yourself, embedded in your Personal Leadership Development Plan. Other than that, I would say keep your eyes and ears open. Your ability to see the big picture will help you figure out why nobody stuck around in the position AND whether or not you want to do the same. Good luck and keep us posted.
